If you earned a certification before this change, it remains valid — nothing is revoked. What happens next depends on which certification you hold.

Certifications that map to a new certification

These three certifications map directly to a certification in the new system:

  • Product Designer → Product Designer (Professional)

  • Product Manager → Product Manager (Professional)

  • UX Researcher → UX Research (Speciality)

If you hold one of these, your certificate now follows the standard Certified by Uxcel rules: valid for 3 years, renewable by retaking the exam.

If you retake and pass the new version of the same certification, your existing certificate is updated rather than duplicated.

Certifications that no longer expire

The following certifications are no longer offered in the new system and do not have a direct replacement. Because of this, they will never expire and don't need to be renewed:

  • UX Designer

  • UX/UI Designer

  • UI Designer

  • UX Writer

If you hold one of these, it stays valid on your profile permanently, exactly as it was earned.

Can I still earn a related new certification?

Yes. If you hold one of the certifications above and purchase a different certification (for example, you held UX Designer and now purchase Product Designer), it's added to your profile as a new, separate certification. Your original certificate isn't affected or replaced.

Can I refresh how my certificate looks?

Yes. Any certificate, whether it maps to a new one or is non-expiring, can be regenerated using the updated Certified by Uxcel template. This adds "Certified by Uxcel" to the certificate title and refreshes its design.

To do this, go to your profile, find the certificate, click the three dots next to it, and select the update option. You don't need to change anything, your name stays the same unless you edit it. Clicking update simply regenerates the certificate with the new design.
